JEE Main 2014 Exam Fee Increased

JEE Main 2014 is the national level engineering entrance exam for admission to the undergraduate engineering courses NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded engineering colleges across the country. Every year lakhs of student take this exam for admission engineering colleges. This year for 2014 the JEE exam schedule has been published. JEE Main 2014 Offline (pen & paper based exam) will be held on April 6, 2014. JEE Main 2014 online (computer based test) will be held on April 9, 11, 12 & 19, 2014.

The Online application for JEE Main 2014 will be start on 15th November, 2013 up to 16th December, 2013. Candidates of JEE (Main) – 2014 have to apply online only. There is no printed application form for JEE (Main).

Pen and Paper based Exam for paper 1& Paper 2 of JEE Main 2014

JEE Main 2014 is a national level Engineering Entrance Exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The Engineering Entrance exam is specifically held for those students who desire to follow under graduate technical learning in the country’s leading institutes such as NITs, IIITs and additional centrally supported technical institutes. JEE Main 2014 exam for admission to the Under-Graduate programmes in Engineering courses- B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning.

JEE Main 2014 will be held in two modes – Online (Computer Based Exam) and Offline (Pen and Paper based Exam)

  • Computer Based Exam is for Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech).
  • Pen and Paper based Exam is for both Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning)

JEE Main 2014 Pen and Paper based Exam: The JEE Main 2014 Pen and Paper Based Exam will be held as per scheduled time and different centers that are chosen by the candidates. In this exam mode candidates will be given a Booklet including Answer sheet. Candidates have to answer the multiple type questions in Blue/Black ball point pen only.

Instructions for JEE Main 2014 Pen and Paper based Exam:

  • Candidates will be given the seal of the Test Booklet. Five minutes before the beginning of the paper the candidate will be asked to break/open the seal of the Test Booklet. He/ She will take out the Answer Sheet carefully. The candidate should check carefully that the Test Booklet Code printed on Side-2 of the Answer Sheet is the same as printed on the Test Booklet. In case of discrepancy, the candidate should immediately report the matter to the Invigilator for replacement of both the Test Booklet and the Answer Sheet.
  • Then Candidate will have to write particulars with Blue/Black ball point pen only on both the sides of the Answer Sheet. Use of pencil is strictly prohibited. If one uses the pencil, his/her answer sheet will be cancelled and no correspondence will be considered in this regard. After completing this step, the candidates will wait for the instruction by the invigilator.
  • The test will start right at the time mentioned in the Admit Card and an announcement to this effect will be made by the invigilator.
  • During the examination time, the invigilator will verify Admit Card of the candidate to satisfy himself/herself about the identity of each candidate. The Page 24 of 64invigilator will also put his/her signatures in the place provided in the Answer Sheet on Side-1.
  • The candidate will check that the Test-booklet contains as many numbers of pages as are written on the top of the first page of the Test Booklet.
  • The candidates must sign two times on the Attendance Sheet at the appropriate place. Firstly, immediately after commencement of the Examination and for the second time while handing over the Answer Sheet to the Invigilator. The candidates are also required to put their left hand thumb impression in the space provided in the Attendance Sheet.

Things to know for Pen and Paper based Exam:

  • The examination rooms/hall will be opened 30 minutes before the beginning of the test. Candidates should take their seats immediately after opening of the examination hall. If the candidates do not report in time, they are likely to miss some of the general instructions to be announced in the Examination Hall.
  • The candidate must have to show the Admit Card for admission in the examination room/hall. A candidate who does not have the Admit Card issued by the Board shall not be permitted for the examination under any circumstances by the Centre Superintendent.
  • A seat indicating roll number will be allocated to each candidate. Candidate should find out and take up their allotted seat only.
  • A candidate who comes after the commencement of the examination shall not be permitted to sit in the examination.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, Calculators, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device, except the Admit Card inside the Examination Room/Hall.
  • For Aptitude Test in Architecture, candidates are advised to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and color pencils or crayons.
  • Candidates have to fill up in answer sheet only in Blue or Black ball point pen only. He/She will not open the Test Booklet until asked to do so by the Invigilator. Do not open/break the seal before the announcement.

JEE Main 2014 Computer based Exam for Paper 1

JEE Main 2014 is most important Engineering exam for the students who want to take admission into Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other centrally funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conducted the JEE Main 2014.

JEE Main 2014 contains Two papers – Paper 1 for B.E/B.TECH and Paper 2 for B.ARCH/B. PLANNING. Paper 1 will be held in both Computer based & Pen and Paper based. Whereas Paper 2 will be held in only Pen & Paper based.

The Computer based for Paper 1 is scheduled in a different date after the Pen and Paper based exam completed.

JEE Main 2014 Computer based Exam: JEE Main 2014 Computer Based Exam which will be conducted using the Local Area Network (LAN) to make it safe, secure and un-interrupted. As this exam is not Internet based, so the internet connection speed does not matter. The candidate need to know only how to use computer mouse. The exam will be twice a day i.e. in two shifts. First shift from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and second shift (if required) from 2 pm to 5 pm Hours.

JEE Main 2014 Medium of the Computer based Exam: Medium of examination will be English, Hindi and also Gujarati for the candidates who have opted Gujarati Medium (Gujarati medium is available only for the candidates who have opted centre cities in the state of Gujarat). The Candidate can also switch medium as many times as he/she wants during the examination.

  • The candidate can review or re-answer any question at any point of time during the examination.
  • The candidate can change the option of the answer during the exam duration and it is one of the most important features of computer based examination.

  • The Candidate can opt for city of his/her choice as per list of computer based exam cities at the time of filling application form only.
  • There will be enough buffer computers available at the examination centers to take care of such problems and the time lost in change of system will be duly compensated as each and every second will be recorded by the server.
  • The question paper will be mailed to each and every candidate after the exam schedule is over.
  • There will be qualified IT professionals for any computerized problems.

Process of the JEE Main 2014 Computer Based Exam: Candidates need to know only how to use computer mouse. The questions will appear on computer screen along with the answer options. Instruction page will also be displayed before the actual test begins. The time of reading of instructions will not be part of examination duration. There will four options of each question. The candidate has to click one of the options using computer mouse which can be reviewed or re-answered any time during the duration of the examination. The question paper will be mailed to each and every candidate after the exam schedule is over.

Mock Test for JEE Main 2014 Computer Based Exam: Mock Test – For hands on experience of Computer Based Examination of JEE Main 2014.  Mock test of AIEEE 2012Computer Based Exam has been made available which can be downloaded by the candidates to have look and feel of computer based examination in simulated environment. Another mock test specially made for JEE Main 2014 examination will also be made available to JEE Main 2014 Computer Based Exam Candidates in the first/second week of Jan 2014.

Instructions for Computer Based Examination: The Computer Based Examination will be conducted as per the following schedule.

  • The test will be of 3 hrs duration
  • The test paper will consist questions of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and all questions will have equal weightage.
  • There will be three parts in the question paper consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics having equal weightages. Each question is allotted 4 (four) marks for each correct response.
  • ¼ (one fourth) marks i.e. one mark will be deducted for indicating incorrect response of each question. No deduction from the total score will be made if no response is indicated for a question.
  • There is only one correct response for each question out of four responses given.
  • No candidate is permitted to carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers, pager, mobile phone, any electronic device, etc., except the Admit Card, identity proof and pen inside the examination hall/room. Violation of this will lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • All calculations/writing work are to be done in the rough sheet provided only and on completion of the test candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the Room/Hall.
  • Each candidate must show on demand his/her Admit Card to the Invigilator.
  • No candidate, without special permission of the Superintendent or Invigilator, should leave his/her seat.
  • The candidates are governed by all Rules and Regulations of the Board with regard to their conduct in the Examination Hall. All cases of unfair means will be dealt with as per rules.
  • A sample/mock test will be available on JEE Main website in the month of Feb/Mar 2014 for practice purpose and to give the candidate look and feel of the Computer Based Examination (CBE).
  • Facilitation center will be operational in the month of March for the hands on practice by the candidates in each and every city where online examination will be conducted.

JEE Main 2014 Exam Pattern

Paper 2 consists of three subjects or parts – Mathematics – Part I, Aptitude Test – Part II &Drawing Test – Part III. This paper is only in Offline mode i.e Pen & Paper based. All the Questions of this paper are Objective type except Questions to test drawing aptitude.

Pen and Paper based exam of Paper 1 & Paper 2 is actually scheduled in a same date. But the Computer based exam for Paper 1 is scheduled in a different date on two or three shifts. The total duration of both papers is Three (3) hours.

The JEE Main 2014 Exam Pattern also describes the rules for scoring and negative marking. Every question will have four answers from which only one will be correct option. Any wrong answer will earn a negative one fourth (1/4) of the total allocated marks for that question.
