JEE Main 2014 Score Calculation and Rank

JEE Main 2014 is an entrance exam for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other centrally funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments, and several other Institutions. JEE Main 2014 is being conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) through all over India. Here is few details about JEE Main 2014 Score Calculation Procedure and Ranks – All India Rank, State Rank and Category Rank.

JEE Main 2014 Score Calculation Procedure:

The score of JEE Main 2014 shall comprise of the actual marks obtained in JEE Main 2014 Exam along with the status of those who qualify for appearing in JEE Advanced  2014  provided other conditions of eligibility are met.

The score of JEE Main 2014 will be prepared the basis of score in JEE (Main) exam and normalized score in Class 12th or other qualifying exam. The weightage of the score will be 60% in the main exam and 40% in the qualifying or 12th class exam.

JEE Main 2014 Rank: JEE Main 2014 Ranks will be arranged on the basis of scores. The Rank Card indicates All India Rank, State Rank and Category Rank with total marks and marks in each paper. Separate rank lists will be prepared for admission to B.E./B.Tech. and B.Arch/ B.Planning (in institutions other than IITs).The rank cards will be dispatched to the candidates by ordinary post.

All India Rank (AIR): All the candidates who took the exam of JEE Main 2014 have been assigned ranks at ALL INDIA Level. The one All India Level rank list with candidates of all categories will be called as Common Merit List (CML).

State Rank: There will also be a State Rank for JEE Main 2014. The State Rank will be prepared for admission to the candidates from which state they belong. For every state this rank list will be arranged.

Category Rank: As well as All India Rank & State Rank, a Category Rank will be arranged in the increasing order of their ranks. SC, ST, OBC will have separate category wise rank.

NOTE: In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more candidates obtain equal marks (by giving 60% weightage to performance in JEE Main and 40% weightage to normalised marks in Class 12th or other qualifying examination), inter-se merit of such candidates shall be decided in the following order:

Rank list for admission to B.E/B.Tech (in institutions other than IITs)

  • Resolution by marks obtained in Mathematics in JEE Main 2014. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
  • Resolution by marks obtained in Physics in the JEE Main 2014. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
  • Resolution by total normalised qualifying exam marks. Candidate obtaining higher normalised marks will be given better rank.
  • Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks. Candidate having higher absolute value of the ratio will be given better rank.
  • If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, candidates will be given the same rank.

 Rank list for admission to B.Arch/B.Planning (in institutions other than IITs)

  • Resolution by marks obtained in Aptitude Test in Paper-2 in JEE Main 2014. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
  • Resolution by marks obtained in Drawing Test in Paper-2 in JEE Main 2014. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
  • Resolution by total normalised qualifying exam marks. Candidates obtaining higher normalised marks will be given better rank.
  • Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks. Candidate having higher absolute value of the ratio will be given better rank.
  • If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, candidates will be given the same rank.
